Why the name Ponderosa?
Tip: Research the HOA before purchasing a property
The ironic thing about how Ponderosa was chosen as the name, is that the name itself was born due to an overbearing HOA. The owners were planning to build a home on a lot they purchased at a Myrtle Beach waterway community. When the Board President (Developer) asked what paint colors they were choosing for the inside of the home, well that was the end of that! An existing home was purchased on a much larger lot. A comment was made that "it was like the Ponderosa compared to the other lot". Ponderosa being the fictional thousand square mile ranch on the TV show Bonanza. The new home's nickname lived on and when Ben & Kelly were deciding on a name for their new company, Kelly chose Ponderosa.
